Hello & Welcome !! My name is Ms. Hubbard and I have been teaching for 5 years with CIS. I worked previously at the other campus for 2 years until moving over to CIS OMAR two years ago to be one of the special teachers who got to share in the experience of opening a brand new school. CIS has become a home to me and our staff is like a family. Students and their success is of utmost importance to our teachers and administration here. We strive to be a school that serves as a role model to other private schools in Alberta, and in this respect, we are constantly reviewing, revamping and revising our long term goals and initiatives in order to provide our students with a well-rounded experience at CIS OMAR. We strive for EXCELLENCE in Academics, Leadership and Islamic Character. Our students are taught in both English and Arabic and memorize the Qur'an.
My personal philosophy is to help students transform themselves into capable, independent learners. Grade 5 & Grade 6 is a transition phase in their life where they are soon to begin Junior High and need to be taught the necessary skills to survive in a world where expectations are higher. Students in my classroom are expected to "Come to school with good intentions." I encourage students to show a dedicated work ethic, a cooperative attitude and a willingness to try new things. Students MUST take ownership in their own learning. I try my best to create an environment which fosters creativity and a love of learning through continued skills practice, hands on activities, individual and group learning centres and an engaging reading and writing program.
Students will be given an opportunity to participate in many field trips and diverse learning opportunities throughout the year.
As for my own personal story.... I was born and raised in British Columbia and upon graduating high school ventured out to Alberta to attend University in Calgary. I completed my education at the University of Calgary where I earned my Bachelor of Education and my Bachelor of Communication & Culture with a minor in English. I have worked at a variety of part time jobs during my University Career to help pay for tuition but I have found my calling with teaching. I love being a teacher and helping students to see the potential they have within myself. I have lived in Calgary for 10 years and am blessed to have both my mother and father and my brother and his family living only a few communities away. I am also very excited to be getting married at the end of September and look forward to transitioning from Ms. Carrie Hubbard to Mrs. Carrie Campbell.
I look forward to building a partnership with all of my parents and students and having a wonderful year in Grade 5!
Please use the email provided to contact me [should any questions or concerns arise]- I will get back to you ASAP but please be sensitive to the fact that I have professional, personal and family committments I attend to as well!
